Africa at the Centre: Leading Change, Shifting Power
For three days in Accra, from 1–3 September 2026, we gathered around an idea that is deceptively simple but deeply consequential: Africa must be at the centre of shaping its own development.
Co-hosted by the West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI), EPIC-Africa, The African Foundation for Development (AFFORD), Reos Partners and RINGO, Africa at the Centre brought together over 250 African actors and allies to move beyond the rhetoric of #ShiftThePower and co-create practical pathways, partnerships and commitments that advance African leadership in development, philanthropy, governance and systems change.
RINGO Focus Areas
From participatory grantmaking models to a reverse call for proposals, how can we change funding practices to shift power and forge a new and emergent role for those who provide resources?
How might we design and implement a system that also holds INGOs and donors accountable to the local and national CSOs they support or partner with? How might we negotiate a more equal sharing of risks in partnerships?
